About Dr. Rhya Marohn

I graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. After graduation, I served for three years as an active duty United States Army Veterinarian, based in Ft. Meade, Maryland. During this time I had the opportunity to care for some incredible working dogs – National Security Agency, Secret Service, Military Police and Capitol Police Canines. I also had the pleasure of caring for the personal pets of military members at Ft. Meade. It was a terrific three years that gave me so much appreciation for both our military members and working dogs.

After ending my time on active duty, I began law school at Georgetown Law Center in Washington, D.C. Throughout law school, I continued working at small animal clinics on a part-time basis. In January of 2006, I traveled to Mississippi to volunteer as a veterinarian at the Best Friends Katrina disaster relief center. It was an incredible undertaking that resulted in hundreds of reunifications of families with their lost pets as well as new adoptions of displaced animals.

I graduated from law school in May of 2006 and then decided to start my housecall practice rather than pursuing a legal career. I have found it to be a wonderful approach to veterinary medicine. Home visits decrease stress for cats and dogs and allow me to better understand an animal’s history and lifestyle.
